Nervous Patients

Advice for nervous patients

For many people, a visit to the dentist can be nerve-wrecking. Whether it’s fear of pain, the sound of the drill, or just a general sense of anxiety, the dental office can be an overwhelming place for some patients.

We hear to tell you there are ways to overcome your fears and make your visit to the dentist a comfortable experience.

The first step in conquering your fears is to communicate with us. If you let our team know we can help you. Let your dentist know that you’re feeling anxious or nervous, they can work with you to come up with a plan that will make you feel more comfortable. Some patients find that just knowing what to expect during their appointment can ease their nerves. Others may benefit from using relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing exercises or visualisation exercises.

Another way to make your visit to the dentist more comfortable is to bring along some distractions. We have televisions or music available for patients to enjoy while they’re getting their teeth cleaned or undergoing a procedure. You could also bring along your earphones, a friend or whatever you feel you need to help take your mind off of the dental work being done.

If you feel none of these are working, or you feel uncomfortable with the treatment we have the option of dental sedation. Unlike the days of gas sedation modern techniques are much more pleasant!

Finally, it’s important to remember that your dentist is there to help you. They’re trained professionals who have your best interests in mind. If you’re feeling anxious or nervous, don’t be afraid to ask questions or speak up if something is bothering you. We want to ensure you have a positive experience and will do everything we can to ensure you’re comfortable.

In conclusion, a visit to the dentist doesn’t have to be a scary experience. By communicating with your dentist, bringing along distractions, and remembering that your dentist is there to help you, you can make your visit a comfortable one. So if you’re a nervous patient, don’t be afraid to speak up and take control of your dental health. Your teeth (and your nerves) will thank you for it!
