Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants and what is involved?

Dental implants are an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. They are a permanent and effective solution for patients with one or more missing teeth.

The process of getting dental implants typically involves several steps. First, the dentist will administer anaesthesia to ensure the patient is comfortable during the procedure. Next, the dentist will make an incision in the gum tissue to expose the bone. A small hole will then be drilled into the bone where the implant will be placed.

After the implant is placed, there is a period of healing during which the implant will fuse with the bone in a process called osseointegration. This process may take several months before the implant can support a prosthetic tooth. Once the implant is securely in place, the dentist will attach an abutment to the implant which will hold a prosthetic tooth or bridge in place.

Dental implant treatment involves a surgical procedure to place a metal post in the jawbone, which is used to support a replacement tooth or bridge. There are several different types of dental implant options, including:

Single Implants

Dental implants are an increasingly popular and effective way to replace missing teeth. They are titanium-based screws that are surgically implanted into the jaw bone, providing a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

Fixed Dentures

Overdentures are a type of denture that uses existing teeth or dental implants to provide additional support and stability. They are becoming increasingly popular as they offer superior comfort and fit compared to traditional dentures.

All on 4 Implants

All-on-4 implants offer an effective and permanent solution for replacing missing teeth. This type of implant is surgically placed in the jawbone and uses just four titanium posts to support a full dental arch.
